12 Week Update
Jeremy stayed home from work to bring me to my CNM appointment :(
Anyhoo...
I've gained 2 bls in the last 4 weeks... so, that's 5 lbs altogether... not too bad, imo.
Had pap smear and cultures done... fun, fun, fun
Melanie (my CNM) tried to hear the baby's heartbeat with the doppler, but, couldn't find it. She spent a good amount of time trying to hear it... finally, she suggested we take a quick peek to see how the baby was doing... see if we could see the heart beating. There's an ultrasound machine in the office area where she works. So, we went in there. She found the baby but it did take a little bit of time... like 2 or 3 min to find the heartbeat; which is a long time when you're not hearing or seeing your baby's heartbeat... So, I got to see my baby :D It looked just like a baby :D Knees brought up to the chest, arms bent at elbows :D Cute :D The heartbeat was like 150.
My next appointment is in 4 weeks. I asked if it could be a later one so that Jeremy wouldn't have to take off of work to bring me. So, its at 4:10 pm.

Wish I could say that I've only gained 5lbs.....Ughh!! That must have been really scary waiting to hear or see the baby's heartbeat! I would've been a complete mess. I would love to see my baby one more time, but it probably won't happen until she's here. Don't you just love geting a pap?! Well, you are past the first 3mth. hump!!! WooHoo!

Hi,I am pregnant with my 4th,I also have 2 stepsons that live with us.My first son Brendan past away in september of 99(he was very premie)born at 24 weeks. Now I have Jordan Is 4 Joshua is 17 months and we are expecting again.all the others were planned almost to the day! This one is a surprise(a good one)Hopefully a girl! But going with history probably another boy.WEll I hopefully will find out at about 18-21 weeks I am only 12 weeks now.
When I first found out I was pregnant with this one I went for an ultrasound and the lab tech told me it was a tubal,I started to cry and she said be strong you can not leave the office crying. She said the baby is non viable and you will need a shot of somthing to end the pregnancy.(I was so scared and upset as I am completly agaist abortion)I felt like this what she wanted me to do.
a few days later I saw my obgyn and I told him I do not feel like I have any of the symptoms of a tubel pregnancy and want another ultrasound.he agreed!
So after days of blood work I finally got another ultrasound where I was told by a stand in doctor"they found a small sac in my uterus with nothing in it and that I would probably misscarry this week"more bad news. But I still felt fine(Except for all this stress)
since i did not miscarry they sent me for another ultrasound and finally they show me the screen and there is my baby in the sac with a heartbeat.
I think all the doctors involved were embarresed by this.
finally my family doc who was on holidays during all of this calls me in. and said she was so happy I refused the shot to end the pregnancy She said"you would not believe how many first time mother would have just taken the shot not know anything different.""and that many viable babies are aborted because nobody asked for the second opinion.
I guess Because I had already had 2 misscarrages and my premie who passed. All the red flaggs when up"no one is taking my baby"so now I am 12 weeks and hopefully from here all goes well.
I hope everything runs smooth for you to.
I also had my children all natural with no drugs(except with Brendan he was an emergency C-Section)after that experiance.I wanted all natural and what a difference.I would always choose natural.
well good luck!

Wow Christie! Good thing you went with your gut instincts about your current baby!!! Man... I'm going to keep that story in mind and if I ever know of anyone in similar situations, I'll tell them not to act too fast!
Congradulations and I hope your pregnancy goes wonderfully!
Thanks for visiting my blog and telling your story!

hey, thanks for that encouragement. I am also 12 weeks and at my appt. yesterday the midwife couldn't hear the heartbeat on the doppler. I also had an ultrasound and the baby is doing great. hb 156. I was still kind of shaken even after the appt. and started having doubting thoughts when I got home. It is great to hear of someone else having that experience. I hope you are feeling well and you have a beautiful baby!! Thanks

Thank-you, Claudia!
Yes, it was kind of unnerving for her not to hear the baby's heartbeat! Man... I was tearing up when we did locate his heartbeat on the ultrasound! Its somewhat nice to hear that this happens more than I thought though, as terrible as that sounds!
I also hope that everything continues to go well for you and your baby!
